WIN a fantastic selection of Rombouts Coffee goodies worth £40!
Rombouts is a company well known for its great tasting coffee and they have kindly offered a goodie bag worth £40 for you to win here at Tales From The Kitchen Shed.
I genuinely love waiting for parcels to arrive and on opening my Rombouts box I wasn’t disappointed as it was stacked full of goodies.
Apart from enjoying some great flavours, reviewing Rombouts new range of single origin filter coffees was a trip down memory lane for me. (By the way, did you know Rombouts invented the one cup filter way back in 1958 ?) At the start of my working life, when coffee machines at home were unheard of and Nescafe Gold Blend was the height of sophistication, I would treat myself to a one cup filter on a Friday night. I realise that sounds sad but there you go, different times and all that. I would also take one cup filters in to work as the coffee from the office drinks machine was truly dismal.
I make no claim whatsoever to be a coffee connoisseur, I simply love a good cup of coffee. Don’t offer me a latte, a mocha, a cappuchino, a flat white, a piccino or a frappuchino, I like coffee black with a touch of sugar, plain and simple.
Since my avoidance of the office drinks machine and my Friday night treat, the Rombouts One Cup Filter has certainly moved on with their new range giving a great choice of roasts and strengths. The question was, which of the new look range to try first ? For me it had to be the Italian Style. Rombout recommend it for an after dinner coffee but I loved it as my morning cup – a rich tasting dark roast which goes so well with the Speculoos biscuits. (There’s a couple of packs of biscuits in the goodie bag) Despite the coffee being Italian Style, I sip it and I’m transported back to the cafe at our local market in France where a Speculoos biscuit is always served with my café allongé.
If you prefer a sweeter medium roast, I would recommend the Columbian which is a coffee I would be happy to drink any time of the day.
I was pleasantly surprised by the decaffeinated one cup filter. I’ve tried a few “decafs” in my time and more often than not they have been a let down in the taste department. Rombouts decaf one cup filter is a great tasting medium bodied coffee, the same blend as their original one cup filter. It’s perfect for a gentle start to the day when you want the coffee flavour but not the adrenalin rush.
I can’t wait to take my one cup filters on my travels so I can have a good cup of filter coffee wherever I am – I’ll be packing them (along with my new Rombouts Coffee reuseable takeaway cup) ready for our trip to France in May.
Also including in the giveaway are two packs of Rombouts Laos Single Origin Ground Coffee.
I loved this, four teaspoons in my Italian Coffee Pot and it made a delicious, well rounded coffee and you actually do get a hint of nutty chocolate just as they describe although I wasn’t so sure I could taste peaches ? I’m pleased Rombouts coffee is Fairtrade by which they guarantee a fair price to their farmers.
I’ve yet to try the Cuba Single Origin Ground Coffee, I’m going to try it very soon but I wanted to get this fabulous giveaway out to you all without delay.
